My work explores imagination through bold color, intuitive abstraction, and symbolic form. I paint without predetermined outcomes, allowing figures, movement, and narrative suggestions to emerge organically during the process.

Color functions as structure rather than decoration. It establishes rhythm, emotional energy, and spatial tension, while line appears and recedes as forms evolve. The paintings often balance playfulness with mystery, inviting viewers to engage their own imagination rather than interpret a fixed meaning.

I describe this approach as **Abstract Visionism**—a framework that emphasizes internal vision over realism. The work is not intended to represent the external world, but to express imagined space, memory, and emotional momentum.  While I created the term Abstract Visionism, I support its use as an open artistic philosophy. The term is free for use by artists and writers to describe work aligned with its ideas.  Abstract Visionism™ is the term under which Jim Aylward creates, exhibits, and presents original contemporary artworks.

My **Palette Intrigue Portfolio** series reflects this process directly. Each panel was created intuitively as an independent act of exploration and later assembled into composite works. Together, the panels form visual conversations in which spontaneity gives rise to coherence.

My practice is driven by curiosity, freedom, and the pleasure of discovery. The goal is not resolution, but engagement—inviting the viewer into a world where imagination leads.
