I was very happy that ATASK (Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence) in Boston featured the paintings I had donated to the organization at their (virtual) annual Silk Road Gala fundraiser. My wife Kija and have been supporters of ATASK and their mission since the early 1990's, with Kija serving as Board Chair for several years. ATASK operates a shelter for battered Asian women and children at an undisclosed location in Boston and also helps hundreds of women navigate the social support system to help them start new lives.
On the video, staff members and victims of domestic violence talked about their experiences. These are very powerful stories, and I encourage you to watch the entire 60 minute presentation. This is why I made these paintings.
The 2021 virtual Silk Road video can be viewed here: https://livestream.com/accounts/15849592/events/9944013/player
Presentations by Kija, me and ATASK staff begin at minute 20:00 and end at minute 32:25 but I encourage you to watch the entire, very moving, video.
